The Department of Pathology is seeking proposals for purchase, installation, and maintenance of a digital slide scanner. The scanner will be used daily by faculty, pathology trainees and laboratory technical staff to digitize pathology slides. These digitized images will form a core component of resident teaching and evaluation. Ongoing and future research projects in the department will make consistent use of the digital pathology images, for example as data, in data analysis, and in translation and dissemination of research. Additionally, digital images will be used daily at multidisciplinary rounds involving clinicians, pathology staff, and residents. The scanner must produce an image with quality suitable for primary diagnosis and future integration of AI-powered diagnostic technologies. The scanner will be routinely used to scan large batches of slides.
